Delhi University Colleges Reopen Admissions To Economics, B.Com(H) – Times Of India

The fifth cutoff list released by Delhi University has brought a glimmer of hope to candidates eyeing courses like B.A (Honours) Economics and B.Com (Honours). While three colleges have reopened admissions to B.A (H) economics, B.Com (honours) seats are now available in four colleges that had closed admissions to the course. However, most seats for the general category have been filled in most colleges

Kirori Mal College reduced its cutoff for B.A (H) economics by 0.5% in the fifth list. At IP College and Jesus and Mary College too, a dip of 0.5% was witnessed. Now, the course is open in just four colleges, including Shyam Lal (evening).

Seats are still available for B.Com (H) in eight colleges. Hindu College and KMC have slashed their cutoff for the course by a marginal 0.25%. Shyam Lal (evening) reduced the cutoff by 4%. Other colleges where admission will continue are Sri Venkateswara, Satyawati (evening), Ramanujan and Ram Lal Anand.

The fifth list has opened new possibilities for students opting for B.Com and B.A programme. The courses are open in 14 and 15 colleges respectively. While Kalindi College registered a 3% drop in the cutoff, several colleges, including Shyam Lal (evening), SGND Khalsa and Lakshmi Bai reduced their cutoffs by 1%. ‘Popular’ colleges like Sri Venkateswara and Ramjas also will admit students to the course, having dropped cutoffs by 0.75% and 0.5% respectively.

Colleges like Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Sri Venkateswara, SGTB Khalsa, Moti Lal and Ram Lal Anand are still offering seats in B.A programme. The lowest cutoff, 50%, has been offered by Bhagini Nivedita, while at SGTB Khalsa the figure remains the highest, 81.75%.

Meanwhile, colleges are still struggling to fill up their OBC seats. Colleges like Hans Raj, Hindu, IP, Kamla Nehru, Lakshmi Bai, Maharaja Agrasen, Maitreyi to Ramjas will continue OBC admissions in various courses. While OBC admissions in Ramjas are open in 11 courses, including B.Com (honours), B.A (honours) economics, B.Sc (honours) physics and botany, seats are also available at Kamla Nehru College.

At Hans Raj College, OBC candidates can opt for honours courses in B.Com, economics, English and history. Hindu College has seats open for courses like B.Com(H), Economics (H) and Chemistry(H).
