M.J.P. Rohilkhand University was founded in 1975 as an affiliating University. Its position was improved to affiliating-cum-residential university in 1985 when four training Divisions were founded in the university. Later three more Divisions were included. In Aug 1997 Rohilkhand University was relabeled as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University. The University has taken an overall viewpoint of growth plan and thereby customized University position by such as Faculties of Engineering and Technology, Management, Applied Sciences, Education and Allied Sciences etc. It has 154 affiliated colleges..
